  Homeless Day in the Park
Saturday, June 22, 2002
Alba Park, Medford, Oregon (Link to Map)

Free Food  *  Free Haircuts  *  Live Music  *  Children's Activities  *  Social Services

Everyone is welcome to attend Homeless Day in the Park.

The list of musicians, social services and children's activities are in-the-making. They will be posted here as soon as they are confirmed. But in the meantime, please read about our past and currently confirmed donors.

The haircuts are provided by the students at Phagan's School of Beauty. They have provided haircuts for Homeless Day in the Park since 1994. We are proud of the students and staff for their concern and caring. There are six Phagan's schools in Oregon. Visit their wesite at http://www.phagans-schools.com/.

The food for the past two years has been cooked-up with the Salvation Army Emergancy Food Kitchen--a beautifully equipped kitchen-in-a-trailer. Visit the Salvation Army's Oregon/Idaho website at http://www.tsacascade.org/.

Donations of food have come from many different sources. Personal donations have been the mainstay of our food needs--we would like to thank all of you who have donated. Local nonprofit agencies have also been of help, including: CERVS, ACCESS and, of course, the Salvation Army.

Music has been provided by local professional rock, blues and folk bands since 1994. Beginning in 1995 our favorite musician began a six year tour of service for Homeless Day in the Park. We would like to honor the blues man extraordinaire--Larry Mack of the LB Mack Band.

For the past two years we have been honored to have Little Dominic of Little Dominic and the Dominos as our band organizer. Little Dominic and the Dominos have played for every Homeless Day in the Park since 1995--Thanks guys (and the occasional gals).

Veterans have helped us out every year. We are proud to have the help of volunteers from the Veteran's Domiciliary in White City, Oregon. The White City Domiciliary is host to an annual 'Stand Down' for homeless vets. Visit a web site that has contact information and describes the Domiciliary services at http://www.va.gov/sta/guide/facility.asp?ID=146.

Come on down, have fun, enjoy a wonderful day in the park.
