2002 ANNUAL AWARDS The Oregon Coalition on Housing and Homelessness (OCHH) will be issuing two awards at the 2002 OCHH Spring Training Conference in Hood River, April 17-19. The awards are as follows: Beverly “Ma” Curtis Award – This award is given annually as a testimonial to the role that Beverly “Ma” Curtis played in the movement to end homelessness. It is awarded for exceptional work in educating others about the tragedy of homelessness. Who is eligible to receive this award? - A homeless or formerly homeless person who has made a significant contribution to ending homelessness. This contribution can take the form of being a role model for other homeless people, an effective advocate, a public educator, or a social service provider. OCHH Award of Merit– This award is given annually for excellence in providing services to alleviate the suffering of homeless men, women, and children. Who is eligible to receive this award? - An individual or organization that has made a significant contribution in increasing and/or providing services to the homeless. Nominating Process: 1. Request for nominations sent to OCHH membership for distribution in their local areas. 2. Nominations can come from OCHH members, social service agencies, school districts, etc. Self-nominations are allowed. 3. Deadline for nominations is March 15, 2002. 4. OCHH Executive Board reviews nominations and make selections. 5. Awards are presented to the recipients at the 2002 OCHH Spring Conference. |
